「꽃비 나리는 날」은 하늘에서 내려오는 꽃잎을 향해 손을 뻗는 아이의 한순간을 담은 작품입니다. 나무 액자 속 한지 빛 공간 위쪽에서 연분홍 꽃잎이 비처럼 흩날려 내려옵니다.
단발머리에 흰 저고리와 주름진 치마를 입은 아이는 고개를 들어 꽃잎을 올려다봅니다. 한 손은 턱에 살며시 대고, 다른 손은 손바닥을 활짝 펴 떨어지는 잎사귀 하나를 받으려 합니다. 손을 뻗으면 이내 닿을 듯한 그 거리에 작품의 설렘이 머뭅니다.

A Day of Falling Blossoms captures a moment when a child reaches toward petals drifting down from the sky. In the hanji-coloured space inside the wooden frame, pale pink petals fall like rain.
The child, with bobbed hair, a white jeogori and a pleated skirt, lifts her head to look up at the petals. One hand rests lightly on her chin while the other opens wide, palm up, to catch a falling petal. The thrill of the work lives in that distance — so close it seems she could reach it at any moment.
The petals drift slowly from the top of the picture to the bottom, creating a sense of time passing. Gathered thickly above, they scatter more sparsely as they fall, letting our eyes follow the path of a spring breeze.
It is the season when cold winter takes a step back and the world fills with warmth. On the threshold of that season, the work speaks of a small act of waiting: opening one's palm.

As children, on days when blossoms rained down, we opened our palms and waited for the petals. With every gust they slipped past our fingertips, and when we finally caught one, we felt as if we owned the whole world.
It was all right that we couldn't catch them all. Even the petals that slipped through our fingers turned the air of that day pink.
I wanted the child's open palm to hold that waiting and that thrill. The brief moment of lifting your head to catch a single petal may be one of the scenes we treasure most warmly in our lives.
